Welcome to the Applied Linguistics Library

The Applied Linguistics Library at Boston University is owned and operated by the Program in Applied Linguistics. It is intended for the use of the students and faculty in the Program. It is not part of the BU library system.

If you are a student or faculty member and wish to log in, click on "Log in" and enter your card number (same as your BU I.D. number) and your password. If you do not know your password, please e-mail the librarian.

If you are not a student or faculty member but would like to use the library, you may request permission from the librarian.

Here are a few tips for getting the most out of your library experience:

• You can search for materials from any computer on the Web, or in the library in room 111.
• Once you find what you are looking for, click on 'Check Out' and you will be notified of its availability.
• Write down the call number to facilitate locating the item in the library.
• After finding the desired item in room 112 (the larger room), go to room 111 (the smaller room) to check it out.
• Items can only be checked out from the computer in Room 111.
• For your own protection, do not check out books until you have them in your hand (if you check something out and then discover that the item is actually unavailable, you will have accepted responsibility for a missing library item).
• You will be sent an automatic e-mail to confirm each item checked out in your name.
• The loan period is 90 days.
• To return the item, place it in the box just inside the door of room 112.
• Note: Books in the "Returns" box are not available for checkout.

You should contact the librarian if:

• you would like to renew an item you have checked out
• you need a book that is currently checked out to another library user
• you need to change your password
• you have books to donate to the Applied Linguistics Library
